HowSound is the body of work (interdisciplinary artist, vocalist, producer and composer) I aspire to flesh out as I roll through this ecstatic chaos We call life. I envision juxtapositions of light, colour, textiles, cinematic time lapse, tuning forks, paint, wordplay, EKGs, drone installations, floral arrangements, choreography, existentialist mysteries, choirs on mountaintops and in hot-springs coming together in the most symbiotically magical ways, as these things do. How(?) HOW(?)
My friends call Me Iffer, and I am most grateful to be living & loving with My daughter Vivi, on the Coast Salish lands of Vancouver Island. I live amongst the Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw, Homolco, We Wai Kai, We Wai Kum peoples. I have travelled enough to know I’ve not seen enough of this glorious earth, but this rainforest is home.
I was born in Vancouver, BC Canada, the un-ceded territories of the xÊ·məθkÊ·É™y̓əm, Skxwú7mesh & SÉ™lÌ“ÃlwÉ™taÊ” peoples. Learn about the traditional lands that you live on.Â
I have been dabbling in music production since the late 90s, lit afire with passion for sound by the now legendary festivals and artists who defined the soundtrack of my early Youth. I have always been fascinated by the voice, and how it intersects with every facet of our waking lives.
I mine inspiration from daily life as well as treasured travels and adventures to see new landscapes, live shows/art exhibitions from my many super talented contemporaries who never cease to amaze me with their talent. I have a vast and eclectic taste and am always mixing classics with obscure, sweet with savoury, and strange with true.
I am hopeful I can bring some mirth and playfulness to life in my offerings. Thanks for stopping by!
